Fall, the time of year when things cool down, people move a little slower, and the weather and scenery changes make your heart a little happier! Planning a trip next fall but unsure where to go? Check out these incredible destinations that are not only beautiful in fall, but have some serious fall festivities!

1. Oktoberfest - Munich, Germany

Calling all beer lovers! If you haven’t heard of Oktoberfest held in Munich, Germany, every fall, you’re seriously missing out.

This 16-18 day festival features a traveling funfair as well as six breweries from Munich - Augustiner-Bräu, Hacker-Pschorr-Bräu, Löwenbräu, Paulaner-Bräu, Spatenbräu, Staatliches Hofbräu-München. Experience live music, rides, and TONS of Lederhosen!

Over 1.7 MILLION gallons of beer are consumed during this festival, and the food is AMAZING. I love planning trips to Oktoberfest for clients, and this is an incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience you will never forget. While Oktoberfest is geared toward adults there are lots of great options for families passing through!

Fun Fact - Oktoberfest was first held in 1810 which makes this festival over 200 years old!

2. Austria

From the Austrian Alps to the stunning architecture of Vienna, Austria is a beautiful place to visit in the fall! Fun harvest and food festivals enliven many of the smaller towns and villages throughout the country while hiking and outdoor activities are made even brighter with vibrant colors.

The weather is perfect staying around 50-60 degrees with light, sunny days. Best part? Little rain! That means outdoor exploring is prime, not to mention picture-perfect.

3. Galway International Oyster Festival - Galway, Ireland

Oysters are a BIG deal in Galway, especially during the International Oyster Festival! Held annually in September, this 68-year-old festival has over 20 competitors and draws crowds from all around the world.

If you’re a foodie this festival is a must to add to your list! Don’t forget to purchase tickets to the Mardi Gras dinner that highlights Irish culture with fantastic food, wines, and entertainment.

4. Edinburgh, Scotland

Even if you haven’t experienced an episode of Outlander you’ve at least seen the stunning previews of a gorgeous European backdrop. Say hello to Edinburgh! No need to travel in time to see the beauty this city has to offer in the fall. The scenery is at its best this time of year and the sun is still shining.

Wander through the parks, explore the botanical gardens, and get lost in the stunning foliage throughout the city.

5. Dubrovnik, Croatia

Looking for someplace warm because you’re not ready for summer to end? Check out Dubrovnik! A stunning city along the Adriatic Coast, the weather is still warm in the early fall, but the summer surge has subsided which means fewer tourists, and lower prices.

Does the photo seem familiar? Dubrovnik was a prominent filming location for Game of Thrones! Enjoy the last stretch of summer weather while it lasts.
